Have you ever had problems or situations that are so unbearable that you just want to die, but you do not have a plan to end your life?

Some of us are guilty of saying aloud, or subconsciously every time something overwhelming happens, “I could just die, or I hate being here.”

It is almost as commonplace as saying the phrase, “To die for”, you really wouldn’t die for an item of clothing, or a concert ticket to see your favorite artist, yet we casually use the phrase without thinking of people who deeply feel the need to end their lives.

Suicidal Ideation is apparent in the form of Passive and Active thoughts.

PASSIVE suicidal thoughts occur when you lack the motivation to live, but you have no plan or intention to end your life. Instead, you wish a bus would hit you as you are walking across the street, or you wish you could go to sleep and not wake up. The frequency and severity of those thoughts may indicate that you need to seek the help of a licensed professional who will access your needs and recommended services to assist you.

ACTIVE suicidal thoughts occur when you lack the motivation to live, but you have a methodically thought-out plan to end your life. You decide when, where and how you want your life to end.

Persons having Active Suicidal Ideations are unlikely to seek help, but they may show signs, indicators that something is terribly wrong, such as giving away personal belongings, saying goodbye to friends and family or they may show no signs at all. This person needs the immediate attention of a mental health professional.
