A HERO’S JOURNEY
A hero’s journey comes to an abrupt and untimely end as Officer Breann Leath, was fatally shot responding to a domestic disturbance call in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 9, 2020.
Officer Leath, a veteran of the National Guard was the 24-year-old mother of a 3-year-old son. This senseless loss of life is just one more example of how Domestic Violence is not only a threat to the intended victims, but it’s a threat to our community, our workplace, our schools and to those entrusted to serve and protect us.
Unfortunately and undoubtedly this pattern of abuse will continue to rise to epic proportions if mental health professionals, correctional system rehabilitators, parents, teachers, pastors and mentors and those governing our judicial system don’t all work to devise a plan of action to target abuse in its earliest stage.
The course of action should include early detection of aggressive behavior, followed by mentorship for the aggressor, plan interventions for those at risk of becoming abusers. Programs offer counseling, coaching, parent assistance workshops should be implemented locally and globally. There are a number of agencies, pastors, youth groups and organizations that need to join forces to bring this crisis to the attention of legislators and to every social media network in and around the country in effort to find an immediate solution to a universal problem.
PREVENTING AGGRESSION ELIMINATES THE NEED FOR PROTECTION!
MAY GOD BLESS OFFICER LEATH, HER FAMILY, HER FELLOW OFFICERS AND FRIENDS.
