Part II

                                                             BY LYRIC GOLDEN LEIGH

The male dominated upper echelons of the hierarchy formally recognized as the highest and most respected office housed in the United States of America known as the White House, and its high highest-ranking officer whom presumably has always had and presently has a reputation of dishonor, disgrace and disgust by the majority of the population of what is presently, the Divided States of America.

It is no wonder why feminism has been set back as far as the 1960s when the fight for women’s equality began. While the struggle continues, every presidential term has its triumphs and setbacks, but nothing has ever set us back in our fight for Equality, Freedom, and Justice as the reigning injustice system currently dictated and administrated by womanizers, whoremongers, sex traffickers, pedophiles, racists, and narcissist.

They Don’t Really Care About Us, is the feeling and the plight of not only women of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, but for men and children as well.

While the rights of women under every administration has its triumphs and challenges, the disregard, dismissive and contemptuous nature  towards women exhibited by the executive, legislative and judicial branches of the current administration has not only negatively impacted the severity of the cases involving sexual misconduct, it has continuously victimized the women who have the courage and the strength to file complaints involving sexual abuse, sexual assault, rape and sexual harassment.

Case in point in the matters of Anita Hill and a Supreme Court Justice for sexual harassment, concluded with the accused abuser’s confirmation to the Supreme Court, the matter of an R&B singer presently incarcerated, yet allowed to continue recording music tracks from prison, speaks volumes to the special treatment awarded to incarcerated celebrity’s, the matter of a Rap Artist / Music Mogul, awaiting sentencing for Sexual Assault and other “misdemeanors”, while the most serious charges such as sex trafficking were dismissed, thus sending a strong message that the abuse of women and children should be overlooked and efforts to diminish or dismiss the allegations should take precedence when the accused is a wealthy, well connected celebrity whose sentencing could ruin the reputations and lives of people in some of the highest places in the land, moving on to the matter of a television personality portraying a person of the highest moral character, accused of drugging and raping over sixty women over a period of forty-eight years, and most recently the leader of the current administration dodging accusations of sexual abuse with  underage girls, lying about paying prostitutes, openly condoning grabbing women by the (expletive) used to describe a females private area, among other disgusting allegations that far exceed the time I’ve committed to substantiate my point, which is why, “They Don’t Really Care About Us.”

Statistically, Sexual Assault is the most underreported crime, with more incidents going unreported to police. A primary concern for many people is the Fear or Lack of Trust in Authorities, also known as the Police. There is a male code / bond the male officers often exhibit during domestic abuse calls, where they lean toward the side of the abuser, advising him to “take a walk or spend the night with family or friends to avoid having to arrest him” thus leaving the abused vulnerable, revictimized and open to a more severe attack by the abuser out of vengeance for calling the police.

It is truly disheartening viewing the comments of Men on social media who are unashamedly notorious for victim blaming, especially when the accused is a celebrity. Granted, there are women who prey on wealthy Men, then fabricate allegations of sexual abuse or misconduct, however when sixty or more women make the same allegation, there is at least some validity to the allegations against the accused. Yet, because of the Gold-digger stigma, women who are true victims of sexual assault, sexual, mental and /or physical abuse imposed by Men, are forced to work harder to prove their allegations are valid and truthful, than the time it takes to prove the guilt of the accused.

To prove my point further, there are men who have witnessed the brutal beating of a woman on national television and berated her for dating the celebrity, for what was (in their opinion) the sole intention of becoming famous and making or taking his fortune. This manner of thinking makes the abuse simply as something she deserved for putting herself in that position in the first place. Which leaves me to wonder, do these Men have daughters, do they raise and take care of their daughters, do they have sisters, do they love and respect their mother’s, were they mistreated, abandoned or abused by a woman, which would explain but not condone why they bear such disdain for women?  Then, those same men wonder why so many single women want to remain single, unbattered, unbroken and drama free. Why, because THEY DON’T REALLY CARE ABOUT US!
